Style and formatting
Manuscripts should be typed in English using a word processor, and single spaced. MS Word for Windows and .doc files are preferred. Times The font must be Times New Roman font size 10. The abstract must not exceed 200 words with a maximum of five Keywords. Authors can download the article template from the journals website at www.atu.edu.gh/aptjournal. Failure to conform to the journals format could result in the outright rejection of the article.
All papers should have the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments (if any) and References.
Length of articlesNot more than 12 pages using the template provided by the journal.
Tables and Figures
Tables and Figures must be cited and numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. Figures must either be single-column width (63.5 mm) or full page width (139.7 mm). Every table must have a descriptive title and enough explanatory information so the reader can understand the data without reference to the text. Graphs must be reduced to the size of a single column (63.5 mm). The text in the graph must be no smaller than 6 point type and no larger than 10 point type, and all symbols must be discernible. Pictures and photographs must be original with a minimum resolution of at least 300dpi and should be in jpeg format and must not blurred or be colour enhanced – their originality must be maintained. All pictures and diagrams culled from other published manuscripts must be duly sourced and labeled according to the APA format. Data duplication in the article should be avoided by using either the tabular or graphical tool for summarizing the results and not both. Complex or large tables and figure correctly numbered as cited in the text should be entered one table per page after the reference.
REFERENCESUse the APA referencing style.
All articles would be screened for plagiarism, and any author found culpable of attempting to submit plagiarised work for publication would be blacklisted.
Figures that are submitted in colour shall be published in colour online but in gray scale in the hard print. Authors who would want the figures to appear coloured in hard print must communicate this to the editor when submitting the article. Coloured figures in the hard print would attract extra charges.
Authors are to submit papers in word and PDF formats to the journal via the e-mail: (firstname.lastname@example.org). Authors are to note that only electronic submissions would be accepted. Articles should be submitted in both Microsoft Word and PDF formats. Articles submitted for review for publication should not have been submitted to another journal for review. There are no article submission charges.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
All submissions would be acknowledged within a week of submission. The manuscript would be sent to the Review Board to be screened for appropriateness and quality. Articles that fail to meet these requirements would be rejected without further review and the lead author would be notified by the Editor. Manuscripts which pass the initial screening would be assigned a manuscript reference number by the Editor and then sent through the Associate Editor for double blind peer review. When the review is complete the Associate Editor would send you the reviewer’s comments together with his/her (Associate Editors) comments in PDF format for the necessary revisions to be made. When you submit the revisions, the Associate Editor would consider them and either
- recommend you do further revisions, or
- recommend to the Editor that the revised manuscript be accepted, or
- recommend with reasons to the Editor that the revised manuscript be rejected.
If the Associate Editor considers your further revisions to the manuscript not to be satisfactory s/he may recommend to the Editor that the manuscript be rejected. The author may resubmit the article afresh for peer review after it has been sufficiently improved. The final decision on your manuscript would be communicated to you by the Editor.
ARTICLE PROCESSINGThere are no article processing charges.
Whenever a manuscript is accepted for publication, the author would be sent a galley proof in PDF format for proof reading prior to publication. The author is responsible for the accuracy of the contents of the final copy. The final decision to publish a manuscript or otherwise rests with the Editor. The Editor will inform the author when the article is published online.
Submission of manuscripts for review is free. The authors are expected to pay publication charges once the article is accepted for publication. The charge for publication of the article in APTJMR is 85 USD per article.The charges cover:
- Publication of the paper online and in hard copy
- One hard copy of the paper printed in gray scale and with APTJMR colour cover page delivered by DHL post to the lead author
- Postal fees for delivery of hard copies by DHL
- Editorial Fee
Charges for extra hard print copies of a paper
Hard copies of the paper printed in gray scale and with APTJMR colour cover page are printed on demand at 20 USD per paper to cover printing, packaging and posting. Delivery is by DHL.
