ATU Signs MoU With LU BAN To Strengthen Technical & Vocational Training

The Management of Accra Technical University has signed a memorandum of understanding to partner with Tianjin Economic and Trade School, China, for the establishment of the "Ghana Lu Ban Workshop"; a training base to run international collaborative learning programmes to strengthen technical and vocational education exchange between the two countries.
The Ghana Lu Ban Workshop will be modelled after the British Lu Ban Workshop teaching and learning standards to provide vocational education and training in Chinese Culinary Arts. The workshop will be a mutually beneficial one in which there will be technical and skills exchange as well as sharing of outstanding vocational education outcomes between the two institutions.
The Tianjin group, led by Principal Liu Enli were hosted by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Nii Odai and a delegation from the University, at the University's Academic Board Chamber, where the agreement was made between the two parties.
The Vice-Chancellor revealed the importance of the agreement in raising the standard of vocational education in the University and the country at large. He and his team were in no doubt that the partnership will come as a breath of fresh air in vocational education in the University.
Lu Ban workshop is built based on the image of Lu Ban, an outstanding Chinese artisan and inventor with superb technology and enquiring mind. He is widely known as the ancestor of Chinese civil craftsmen owing to his invention of labour tools which greatly improved production efficiency.
