Accra Technical University, GAF Pact: 158 Service Personnel Matriculated

Accra Technical University and the Ghana Armed Forces School of Ordnance have held a matriculation ceremony to induct freshly admitted students to the University for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The ceremony which came off at the School of Ordnance Ceremonial Grounds was to officially welcome and usher 158 newly admitted students into becoming fully fledged members of the University; a status made possible by a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Accra Technical University and the Ghana Armed Forces School of Ordnance two years ago.
This academic year sees 97 students admitted to pursue Certificate Programmes in Supply Chain Management, 33 in Certificate in Fashion Design and 28 in Leather Craft.
The admitted students will have full access to the facilities of the University as well as tuition from its experienced lecturers.
The acting Pro-vice-chancellor, Professor Edmund Ameko, in his address lauded the Ghana Armed Forces for its cooperation in the agreement signed between the two institutions.  He advised matriculants to lift high the name of the University wherever they find themselves and refrain from malpractices during examination to escape the fate of being rusticated.
Guest of Honour for the occasion, Brigadier General Solomon Teye Mensah Osabutey, emphasised to the matriculants the importance of their enrolment in the University as crucial to their career in the Ghana Armed Forces.
“You must remember that your promotion and progress in the GAF will be dependent on these courses you are pursuing at Accra Technical University," he hinted.
He encouraged the matriculants to be punctual and eschew acts that will mar the image of the GAF.  He said that the Command has high expectations of the new students and hoped that they will live up to such expectations by excelling in the various programmes of their choice.
The matriculants were officially inducted into the University by taking the Matriculation Oath of the University.
