Twenty-three Airforce cadet recruits passed out from the Airforce Cadet Corps of Accra Technical University on Friday 7th of June, 2019.
The 23rd Passing Out and Handing Over Ceremony was reviewed by Flt.Lt. Kenny of the Ghana Airforce, who recognized the role of Accra Technical University Cadet Corps in moulding students to be always disciplined and timely in their educational careers.
He said the turnout and skills displayed by the cadets of ATU has been incredibly impressive. He also added that, the role of cadets has become more imperative owing to lack of patriotism amongst citizens of the country.
“I must remind cadets on parade and those yet to join the call that, the training being offered is to inculcate in you, a high sense of patriotism and discipline for you to offer better, quality and dedicated service to our dear motherland” he added.
The Reviewing Officer admitted that, every single segment of training students undergo while in the University is designed to give them a sound foundation to overcome challenges of life, in and outside the University; therefore students should never consider any of these qualities impacted to them as irrelevant.
He stated that, the integrity of students as cadets of ATU must be without doubt and in so doing, students must be fit and disciplined as well as selfless where they would forgo vices and put their shoulders to the wheels to deal with enemies of progress or nation wreckers such as, corruption, armed robbery, road traffic indiscipline, immoralities among others. He charged them to be a shining examples to others whilst in the confines of the University.
Flt. Lt. Kenny mentioned that, the Military is indeed a full fulfilling profession which has progressed over the period: “Gone are the days when the military used to be thought of as a dumping grounds for the ‘thick headed’. Unfortunately those of you who have refused to study hard enough, it is no longer so. The competition to get enlisted keeps getting tougher and tougher” he added.
The reviewing officer also commended the planning committee for organizing such a successful and memorable event. In his closing remarks, he urged all graduating cadets to uphold the words of William Shakespeare which says: “Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them”
Awards were given to cadet recruits who excelled in various fields. The award for the overall best cadet went to Cadet Recruit (CR) Dogli Dacosta
