Accra Technical University has been declared the winner and first runner-up in Electrical Installations and Mechatronics, respectively, in the just-ended National WorldSkills Competition 2022, picking up gold and silver.
A total of nine students and staff of Accra Technical University who participated in the competition, having qualified through the Regionals, were awarded certificates in Electrical Installations, Mechatronics, Cooking, and Fashion Technology, participating in the National WorldSkills Competition in Ghana.
The participants received their certificates in a brief ceremony graced by the Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Professor Samuel Nii Odai, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, and the Registrar, Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Oppong-Mensah.
This year’s National WorldSkills Competition was held at the Accra Technical Training Centre and organized by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), the government regulatory agency in charge of TVET under the Ministry of Education, as well as WorldSkills Ghana.
Over three days, 73 young people, including nine staff and students from Accra Technical University, took part in 14 skills with an eye on two major upcoming events – WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022 in Namibia and WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 in China.
