DRIPTT Staff Undergo Intellectual Property Training

Accra Technical University’s Directorate of Research, Innovation, Publication, and Technology Transfer (DRIPTT) began a weeklong Intellectual Property Awareness Training on Monday, July 3, 2023.

The training was facilitated by Eng. Samuel Anum, who oversees the Patents Registry at the Registrar General’s Department. Eng. Anum urged members of the directorate to encourage applied research among students and members of the various faculties since such ventures are innovative and are therefore worth patenting.

On Thursday, July 6, the directorate met the Ag. Vice-Chancellor in the University’s Council Chamber along with representatives of the Registrar General’s Department to officially brief him on their progress in the training. Eng. Samuel Anum divulged that after the initial training with the directorate, he intends to meet members of the University’s faculties to train them and possibly assist them in appointing Intellectual Property Representatives.

ATU Ag. Vice-Chancellor Professor Amevi Acakpovi who described the training as the establishment of a groundbreaking culture, expressed his eternal gratitude towards the guests from the Registrar General’s Department for their efforts in bolstering the quality of research and innovative works published by staff and students of ATU. He also commended DRIPTT for their efforts to improve the quality of the University’s academic ventures.
