Accra Technical University (ATU) students have been invited to participate in a prestigious Composter Design Contest to revolutionise compost production for agricultural purposes and address waste management challenges in Ghana.

The initiative, a collaborative effort between the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Paris, and ATU, seeks to harness the creativity and innovation of young minds to develop efficient composting solutions. During a briefing session held on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, at the University Auditorium, representatives from the partnering entities expressed enthusiasm for the potential impact of the contest. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, highlighted the track record of ATU students in various competitions and emphasized the university’s commitment to providing such platforms for students to showcase their skills and knowledge acquired through education.

The contest is scheduled to commence on March 25 and run through April 2024. The competition represents a significant step towards improving recycling practices and waste management strategies in the region.
