The Governing Council of Accra Technical University has embarked on a familiarisation visit to the University’s Mpehuasem and Kinbu Campuses to get acquainted with developments on both campuses. 

The working visit which came off on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, was the university’s highest decision-making body’s first official visit since its inauguration in September 2021.

Beginning the familiarization tour at the Mpehuasem Campus, the team was hosted by the head of the campus, Mr. Govi, who briefed them of happenings on the campus. In a short presentation, the Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Professor Samuel Nii Odai, buttressed the briefing of Mr. Govi with some pictures and statistics.

Delivering his address, Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Wilfred Anim-Odame, reiterated that the purpose of the visit was hinged on three-legged objectives. “The reason why we are here is to familiarize, inspect ongoing projects to help design policies to escalate future projects, and observe the level of encroachment to protect what belongs to the university,” he said.

At the Mpehuasem Campus, the team visited various facilities, including equipment, laboratories and workshops. The team also assessed the extent of ongoing projects.

Climaxing its visit at the Kinbu Campus, the team inspected rehabilitated hostels, ongoing renovation at the university canteen, and the construction of a five-storey auditorium complex. The contractor on-site assured Council Members of his commitment to deliver within schedule. The team’s visit also took them to the university’s completed water farm, which is set to assuage the perennial water challenges on campus.

The new Governing Council members are poised to expend their time and resources to ensure that Accra Technical University achieves more by the end of their tenure.
