The Mechanical Department of Accra Technical University has taken delivery of ten (10) Digital Vernier Calipers from Dr. Isaac Asempah, a lecturer of the University.
Dr. Asempah who is a lecturer at the Mechanical Department made the donation as part of efforts to supplementing the teaching and learning needs of both students and staff.
Receiving the items, Mr. Stephen Kudadze, the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department expressed delight in the gesture. He said it was timely to have the donation at such time when students were due for their practical works.
The Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, in expressing his appreciation to Dr. Asempah said: the provision of quality training, and mentoring the young generation is at the heart of the University. He appealed to the University to take steps to preserve the longevity of the items, and work towards getting more through the benevolence of people.
“Often, our maintenance culture has been called to question, I encourage the department to take good care of the materials, and multiply them in the coming years”, he said.
The Vernier Caliper is a very useful engineering tool used for precision measurement. It is designed to gauge the dimensions and depths of different objects with the aim of striking accuracy.
