Dr. Musah Osumanu Doumbia
Head of Department, Procurement and Supply Chain
Alhaji Dr. Musah Osumanu Doumbia is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management and a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Chain (CIPS) in the UK. He was employed in November 2009 as a lecturer and rose through the ranks to become the Head of Department from February 2017 to January 2019.
He has diligently carried out his duties of teaching, conducting research and providing other services to the University Community. He has taught various courses at both HND and
BTECH levels, as well as supervising students’ project. He has also served as academic counsellor to both HND and BTECH students and serves as one of the Patrons of Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA), Accra Technical University Chapter.
In the area of University administration, he has served and continue to serve on a couple of boards and committees, notable amongst them are:
At the national level, he served as a member of the team of Procurement Assessors that carried out the PPA-led national procurement assessment exercises in 2008 and 2009. Among entities assessed were – the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the National Media Commission, the Forestry Commission, the Ghana News Agency, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Department of Urban Roads, CHRAJ, the Judiciary Service (Supreme Court) etc. When NABPTEX constituted a Committee that reviewed the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Purchasing and Supply in April 2010, Dr Doumbia and another colleague had the opportunity to represent the Accra Polytechnic in that review. Finally, in August 2020, he was also nominated together with other faculty members to represent the Accra Technical University in the development of teaching materials for the National Procurement Curriculum at GIMPA in Accra.
Alhaji Dr. Doumbia was recently enskinned as the Wangara Chief of Teshie and Nungua and is happily married with three boys and a girl. He holds an HND (First Class) in Purchasing and Supply from the then Accra Polytechnic, an MSc in Supply Chain Management from Coventry University in the UK and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from CASS European Institute of Management in France. He was appointed again to serve as the Head of Department from 1st November 2020 to 31st July 2022.
