Environmental Staff of Accra Technical University (ATU) will soon be supplied with new uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to facilitate and give a boost to their productivity. This was revealed in a brief ceremony to commission a consignment of PPE at the University Main Auditorium on Friday October 9, 2020.
The consignment comprised branded polo shirts, overall coats, nitrile gloves, reflective vests and rubber clogs.
In his opening remarks during the commissioning, the Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Prof Samuel Nii Odai, acknowledged and appreciated the service of the environmental staff in the advancement of health and safety on campus. He further used the opportunity to encourage the environmental staff to up their game and eschew all forms of sluggishness. He highlighted that the new uniforms would give the environmental staff a new identity and a sense of belonging as well as a form of encouragement for high productivity.
The Head of the Environment Department, Mr. Foster Kwakye, unveiled and showcased the PPE ranging from branded polo shirts, overall coats to gloves, reflective vests and rubber clogs to the suspense-filled beneficiaries and the others gathered. He advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the PPE they would be receiving as that would be an incentive for more of such benevolence.
He added that the PPE procured for their use were purchased based on practical and contemporary design considerations to enable them carry out their duties in comfort.
The ceremony was graced by other members of Management, Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments.
