The MTech Medical Laboratory Science (Medical Microbiology) is a specialized postgraduate programme designed to develop highly skilled medical microbiologists with advanced competencies in infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance surveillance, molecular microbiology, bioinformatics, and clinical research. The programme combines applied research, advanced laboratory practice, and industry-focused training to prepare graduates for leadership roles in healthcare, academia, public health, and biomedical research.
The curriculum emphasizes emerging areas such as molecular and genomic microbiology, microbial risk assessment, infection prevention and control, advanced mycology, virology, infectious disease immunology, and bioinformatics. Students gain practical experience through work-based learning projects, clinical-based research, and collaborations with leading healthcare and research institutions.
