MTech Laboratory Quality Assurance and Risk Management

The MTech Laboratory Quality Assurance and Risk Management is a specialized postgraduate programme designed to develop professionals with advanced expertise in laboratory quality systems, accreditation, regulatory compliance, biosafety, biosecurity, and risk management. The programme prepares graduates to lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure laboratory services meet international standards.

As the first specialized programme of its kind in Ghana, it integrates ISO 15189 laboratory accreditation requirements, quality management systems, laboratory auditing, risk-based thinking, monitoring and evaluation, leadership, and strategic management. Students develop competencies needed to improve laboratory performance, patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

The programme combines applied research, practical quality improvement projects, and industry-focused training to support healthcare institutions, public health laboratories, manufacturing industries, research centres, and regulatory agencies.
