Accra Technical University has officially established its first Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) chapter, marking a major step toward giving postgraduate students a stronger voice, better representation, and greater opportunities for academic and professional development.

The swearing-in and inauguration ceremony, held at the University’s Auditorium on Saturday, July 4, 2026, saw the induction of the pioneer executives of the Association into office.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Graduate School, Prof. Frank Opuni, congratulated the newly elected executives on their successful election and urged them to regard their leadership positions as an opportunity to serve. He emphasised the importance of humility, responsibility, and respect for established authority and institutional structures in the discharge of their duties.
The Director of Legal Affairs, Ms. Elorm Esaa Acolatse, administered the Oath of Office to the executives and charged them to uphold the values, principles, and objectives of the Association throughout their tenure.



The newly inaugurated executives include Mr. Peter Kumordzi, President; Mr. Isaac Katey Agbedam, Vice President; Mr. Yirenkyi Opare-Akuffo, Secretary; Mr. Tettey Kwasi Eric, Treasurer; and Mr. Asiedu Larbi Emmanuel, Organising Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, the President of the GRASAG-ATU Chapter, Mr. Peter Kumordzi, described the inauguration as a historic achievement for graduate students of the University. He expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in the new leadership and pledged the executives’ commitment to promoting academic excellence, student welfare, accountability, inclusiveness, and effective representation. He further called on graduate students to support the Association in building a vibrant and united graduate community.
Representing the University Management, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Felix Kutsanedzie, together with the Vice Dean of Students Prof. Mrs. Emelia Ohene Afriyie and the Director of Public Affairs Ms. Fausta Kilian Ganaa, congratulated the executives on their assumption of office and advised them to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the University’s Statutes and Regulations. He underscored the importance of teamwork, dialogue, and consensus-building in ensuring effective leadership and assured the Association of Management’s continued support and collaboration in advancing the interests of graduate students.
The inauguration of the maiden GRASAG ATU Chapter provides graduate students of Accra Technical University with an official platform for representation, advocacy, and constructive engagement with University Management.
