Master of Technology (MTech) Medical Laboratory Science (Haematology and Transfusion Science)

The MTech Medical Laboratory Science (Haematology and Transfusion Science) is a specialized postgraduate programme designed to develop highly skilled professionals with advanced expertise in haematological diagnostics, transfusion medicine, blood banking, molecular haematology, and clinical research. The programme combines advanced laboratory practice with applied research to prepare graduates for leadership roles in healthcare, academia, public health, and biomedical research.

Students acquire advanced knowledge in diagnostic haematology, haemato-oncology, immunohematology, molecular haematology, transfusion-transmitted infections, stem cell biology, blood safety, and quality management. The curriculum integrates molecular diagnostic technologies, evidence-based laboratory practice, and clinical decision-making to improve the diagnosis and management of blood disorders.

With the increasing burden of anaemia, sickle cell disease, leukaemia, bleeding disorders, and the growing demand for safe blood transfusion services, the programme equips graduates to strengthen laboratory medicine, blood transfusion services, and public health systems in Ghana, West Africa, and beyond.
