Master of Technology (MTech) Medical Laboratory Science (Histopathology and Cytopathology)

The MTech Medical Laboratory Science (Histopathology and Cytopathology) is an advanced postgraduate programme designed to produce highly skilled specialists in tissue pathology, cytopathology, molecular pathology, cancer diagnostics, and clinical research. The programme prepares professionals to provide expert diagnosis, reporting, and interpretation of tissue and cellular abnormalities using modern histopathological and cytopathological techniques.

The curriculum provides advanced training in systemic histopathology, systemic cytopathology, molecular diagnostic techniques, tissue dissection, histopathology reporting, gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytopathology, cancer biology, digital pathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular pathology. Students gain extensive practical experience through work-based learning, clinical placements, and research addressing real-world healthcare challenges.

The programme responds to Ghana’s increasing burden of cancer and other chronic diseases by developing specialists capable of supporting early disease detection, precision diagnosis, personalized medicine, and pathology research.
