Master of Science (MSc) in Construction Project Management

The MSc in Construction Project Management is designed to offer demand-driven courses, leveraging competencies and coaching, and providing extensive industry exposure through internships and mentorship opportunities. It is an academic programme underpinned by a competency-based training philosophy aimed at adopting a multi-disciplinary approach in training and preparing students for a broad range of careers capable of addressing the complexities and challenges inherent in construction project management considering the digital age.

How are students going to be assessed?

Assessment of students in a course shall be based on two components: continuous assessment and end-of-semester examination. The continuous assessment will comprise of quizzes, class work, assignments, presentations, case studies, term papers, seminars, coursework and mid-semester examination.

During the course, students will be taking 42 credits in total. The twelve (12) modules during semesters 1 and 2 respectively. Also, a Supplementary Semester shall be observed by students comprising of Thesis and Seminars within six months with a sub-total of eight (8) credit hours. The pass mark for any course shall be 50%.

On completion of this programme, students will be able to:

  1. Manage complex construction projects effectively from inception to completion, demonstrating competence in project planning, scheduling, and execution.
  2. Develop the ability to prepare comprehensive cash flow analyses for construction projects, ensuring efficient allocation and management of financial resources.
  3. Possess the skills to strategically schedule and allocate resources, optimizing efficiency and productivity throughout the project lifecycle.
  4. Acquire the expertise to manage and resolve disputes that may arise during construction projects, fostering smooth project progression and client satisfaction.
  5. Inculcate an understanding of sustainable construction practices, empowering graduates to incorporate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.
  6. Be proficient in conducting applied research and producing technical reports, contributing to the advancement of knowledge within the construction management field.
  7. Prepare graduates to assume leadership roles within the construction industry, equipped with the best management practices and latest technologies.
  8. Be equipped to work on diverse construction projects, including bridges, roads, tunnels, canals, and other large-scale infrastructure developments.
  9. Provide graduates with the necessary tools to thrive in the competitive built environment, fostering adaptability and innovation.

Broaden their knowledge base by completing elective courses in areas such as project management, business, or other relevant fields, enhancing their versatility and employability.
