ATU Library Donates to Motherly Love Foundation as Part of Library Week Celebration

The Library of Accra Technical University (ATU), in collaboration with the Faculty of Built Environment and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), the Growth Mindset Foundation, RenPower, and other supporting agencies, has donated assorted items to the Motherly Love Foundation at Kwabenya as part of activities marking the 3rd Library Week Celebration.

The donation, which took place on February 10, 2026, was aimed at giving back to the community and supporting vulnerable children and families in line with the University’s social responsibility efforts.
Presenting the items on behalf of the University Library, the University Librarian, Dr. Florence Plockey, said the initiative was designed to promote compassion, community service, and social impact as part of the Library Week activities. She stressed the importance of extending academic influence beyond campus to touch lives in surrounding communities.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Foundation, Rev. John Azumah expressed heartfelt gratitude to the University for the timely support, noting that the donation would significantly improve the welfare of the beneficiaries.

The donation comprised food supplies, household essentials, educational materials, clothing, toiletries, beverages, and a cash donation.

The outreach formed a key focal point of the 3rd Library Week Celebration, reinforcing the University Library’s role as a centre for learning and a driver of social responsibility, empathy, and positive community impact.
