Dr. Mrs. Sylvia B. Oppong-Mensah, the Registrar of Accra Technical University, is a seasoned administrative professional with over fifteen (15) years of experience in higher education administration. She is a team player and very proficient in supervising the planning and implementation of Human Resource and Administrative Policies, Programmes, and Projects aimed at achieving institutional goals.
She holds a Doctorate in Management from Swiss Management Center, Switzerland (2023), a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon (2002), a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and Classics, and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast (1991). She obtained her Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates at Holy Child School, Cape Coast (1984 and 1986, respectively).
She is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and a Professional Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC), Ghana. She is an experienced external assessor for promotion to senior member administrative positions in tertiary institutions, an efficient facilitator, and a seasoned resource person in several higher education workshops and seminars.
Dr. Mrs. Oppong-Mensah has had the opportunity to participate in various workshops and conferences at home and abroad on Human Resource Management and Higher Education Administration Operations and Management. This has broadened her horizons and sharpened her managerial acumen. With her multifaceted administrative skills, experience, and goal-oriented leadership style, she has contributed significantly to the promotion of the University’s mission. She has contributed to many administrative reforms in the operations at the Registry of the University.
She was the first female Registrar of Takoradi Technical University, where she worked assiduously and left a significant mark.
Her passion for women’s rights advocacy has seen her spearhead several influential women’s interest programmes that have yielded positive outcomes. This advocacy has positively impacted many female students. She loves socialization, especially at programmes where advocacy for women and the youth is championed. She is married, a Christian (Presbyterian) who holds positions of service in the church, a local preacher, a Marriage and Youth Counselor, and a member of The Bible Society of Ghana (Western Region).
