The Office of the Registrar is a top and strategic arm of the University, operating under the Vice-Chancellor, managing the administrative wing, and providing the appropriate support for policy implementation whilst keeping well-informed administrative trends to continuously improve services.

The Office is headed by the Registrar, appointed by the Governing Council, and a member of the Management team of the University, who serves as the Chief Administrative and Operating Officer and is responsible for the daily operations of the University, per the policy directives of the Governing Council.

The Registrar as the Chief Operating Officer also performs the following functions but are not limited to:

  • The Registrar shall supervise the Standing Committees provided under the University’s Schedule and have the power to set up Ad-hoc committees.
  • The Registrar or the representative of the Registrar shall serve as Secretary to all other Boards and Statutory Committees of the University.
  • The Registrar shall be responsible for the custody of the Seal and for affixing same to relevant documents of the Governing Council and the Academic Board.
  • The Registrar shall be responsible for the custody of all legal documents and records of the University.
  • The preparation of student registration and admission materials, the maintenance of both soft and hard copies of such materials, and overseeing the process of registration;
  • The preparation of the academic calendar, class schedules, time-tables, grade sheets, and the distribution of semester reports;
  • The Registrar shall initiate the final graduation plans, the tabulation of classes, and award of honours, coordinate matriculation, congregation procedures, and ceremonies, and maintenance of students’ academic records.
  • The Chief Administrative Officer shall prepare and present Annual Reports to the Governing Council and Academic Board on the operations of the Registry during the previous year within six (6) months of the end of the year.
  • The Registrar shall cause to be published quarterly all policy decisions of Governing Council and the Academic Board and other Statutory Committees of the University.
  • The Registrar shall perform any other functions as may be assigned by the Governing Council or delegated by the Vice-Chancellor.

The Registrar is also assisted by Administrators and Professionals made up of Deputy Registrars, Senior Assistant Registrars, Assistant Registrars, and Junior Assistant Registrars who help in the discharge of other delegated duties.
