Ing. Bright Aforla is a Senior Lecturer at Accra Technical University with over 28 years of professional practice as a Civil and Highway/Transportation Engineer. He holds a MSc in Civil and Highway/Transportation Engineering from the Tashkent Highway Engineering Institute in the Former USSR. He was the immediate past Head of the Civil Engineering Department.
He provides internal consultancy services to the institution and served on various committees. As an academician, he has a keen interest in passing on technical knowledge and skills to aspiring students and young professionals. His research areas focus on highway design, maintenance, construction management, and environmental sustainability among others.
Aforla has been involved in the design, management and construction supervision of a wide range of projects including roads, structures, irrigation, markets, stores, offices, residential accommodation and schools. His experience with projects involving community participation has enhanced his skills in participatory development. He has experience in project management and has been a member of auditing teams, one of which audited Feeder Roads Infrastructural Projects in the Afram Plains. He has also served on various School Boards and currently a member of the Jehovah Shammah Assemblies of God Church Board responsible for infrastructural development.
Aforla’s major goal is to counsel and enhance student development to meet their academic and career goals and contribute immensely to infrastructural development, management and sustainability. He is also a Pastor and Minister of the Gospel. He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering.
