Dr. Peter Nyanor is a distinguished Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science scholar, currently serving as the Director of Research, Innovation, Publication, and Technology Transfer (DRIPTT) at Accra Technical University (ATU). With over a decade of experience in academia and research, Dr. Nyanor is committed to fostering an environment that promotes innovation, collaboration, and practical solutions to real-world challenges.
A senior lecturer in engineering, Dr. Nyanor’s academic portfolio spans courses in Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science, and Solar Energy Engineering, reflecting his dedication to advancing technical education through both theory and hands-on application. His leadership has been instrumental in developing competency-based training (CBT) programmes, mentoring students, and driving curriculum reforms that align ATU’s offerings with industry needs.
Dr. Nyanor’s research is primarily focused on composite materials and finite element analysis (FEM) applications, with significant contributions to understanding and enhancing the mechanical properties of advanced materials like nano-reinforced aluminum composites. His work, published in top-tier journals and presented at international conferences, has positioned him as a recognized figure in material characterisation and mechanical simulation. As a reviewer for esteemed journals such as Materials Science (Springer) and Heat Transfer Engineering (Taylor & Francis), Dr. Nyanor contributes to the global advancement of engineering knowledge.
Under his leadership, DRIPTT has launched several initiatives, including an innovation fund to support faculty research, collaborations with industry, and monthly research bulletins. His strategic vision emphasises technical innovation and the importance of sustainable and industry-aligned research at ATU. Dr. Nyanor holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and an MSc in Computer-Aided Conception and Production from RWTH Aachen University, Germany.
Dr. Nyanor’s mission as Director of DRIPTT is to establish ATU as a hub for innovative research that drives socioeconomic impact, nurtures entrepreneurial spirit, and fosters an enduring research culture.
