Accra Technical University (ATU) continues to expand opportunities for its students through strategic international partnerships, with the latest being a study abroad seminar held in collaboration with Northeastern University, USA.
The seminar, which took place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the ATU Akwaaba Lodge, brought together BTech and HND students to explore master’s programme opportunities abroad and gain practical guidance on navigating the application process.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of International Programmes and Institutional Cooperation, Prof. Peter Arhenful, noted that the seminar forms part of the University’s broader effort to provide students with global exposure and access to quality education beyond Ghana. He emphasised that partnerships with internationally recognised institutions like Northeastern University open doors for students to build competitive careers and broaden their academic horizons.
He encouraged participants to actively engage with the visiting team, ask questions, and take full advantage of the opportunity to understand admission requirements, tuition structures, and scholarship options.
The Dean of the Graduate School, Prof. Frank Frimpong Opuni, encouraged students to approach such opportunities with discipline, strong motivation, and a clear sense of purpose. He noted that while studying abroad presents valuable exposure, success depends on diligence, independent research, and the ability to make informed decisions. He further advised students to remain focused, make good use of their time, and stay committed to their academic and personal development.
The seminar featured a detailed presentation by representatives from Northeastern University, led by Senior Associate Director- Recruitment and Marketing, Mr. Olakunle Muyideen Shanu. The session provided insights into available master’s programmes, admission criteria, funding opportunities, and the unique experiential learning model that the university is known for.
Participants were taken through practical steps on how to prepare strong applications, including the importance of academic performance, research readiness, and personal statements. The team also addressed concerns around scholarships, visa processes, and life as an international student in the United States.
