Dr. Daniel Sarpong is an Engineer by profession. He specialises in Water, Sanitation and Environmental/Agricultural Engineering. Daniel holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (Water and Environment Sanitation) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology-Ghana. 

Daniel also has an MSc in Water & Sanitation, KNUST-Ghana and MSc in research in Water & Environment Technology from Cranfield University, United Kingdom. During his 15 years of work experience, he has contributed to programme design, planning,

 implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of Circular Rural/Urban Water and Sanitation, Circular Economy/Waste Recovery and Climate Change.

In addition, he has provided strategic leadership and vision for a team of 25 to provide poor and marginalised communities with access to clean, safe water, improved sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) through culturally appropriate programs. Improving people’s health and livelihoods was central to this work. 

He has fulfilled several advisory or consultancy roles within international organisations such as UNICEF Nigeria and Ghana, AfDB, World Bank, GIZ, World Vision International – West Africa Region, WaterAid Ghana (as Head of Program), OXFAM GB, and Plan International, to name only a few. 

Daniel now works mainly as a Researcher and continues to be a part-time Lecturer at the Civil Engineering Department of the Accra Technical University, Ghana. He has supervised and mentored over 20 undergraduate students, 10 Master’s and 5 PhD students. Daniel has working experience across countries like Uganda, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Chad, Rwanda, Nigeria and Ghana. 

His excellent human resources development skills, Financing/budgeting, capacity building of local government staff, NGOs, and Private and Civil Society Organization is admirable. He is responsive to gender program design and implementation. Daniel has significant research prowess and has published several articles and reports in international journals.
