Dr. Hackman holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Master of Science in Clinical Microbiology, and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. His research interests focus on antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, infectious disease diagnosis, public health microbiology and natural antimicrobial products, leading to several publications in high-impact journals including PLOS One Journal.
As a Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist, Dr. Hackman has played a pivotal role in enhancing laboratory education and practice in Ghana. His leadership has been instrumental in establishing new academic department (Department of Medical Laboratory Technology) and academic programmes, including the Bachelor of Technology in Medical Laboratory Science, Bachelor of Medical Imaging Technology and Bachelor of Veterinary Laboratory Science at Accra Technical University.
He has previously served in various administrative capacities, including Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Planning; Director of Research and Innovation; and Founding Head of Department, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology. He has served on several statutory and adhoc committees including Chairman, Health and Safety Committee and Chairman, Strategic Plan Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee.
Beyond academia, Dr. Hackman is actively involved in professional and community service. He is a consultant for the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in developing four curricula for qualified supervisors’ course for manufacturers of food, herbal, cosmetics and house chemical substances, a reviewer for several scientific journals, and regular member of America Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. His dedication extends to social service, where he serves in leadership roles within The Church of Pentecost, Tema, a licensed lay counselling practitioner and a family man.
Dr. Hackman remains committed to academic excellence, innovation in medical laboratory science, and the mentorship of the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals.
