Accra Technical University (ATU) on Monday, July 27, 2026, welcomed the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and the Deputy Minister, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, during a courtesy call on the University’s Management.
The visit formed part of the Ministers’ condolence visit to the family of the late Sharon Dede Padiki Padi, a member of the ATU community whose work made a positive contribution to Ghana’s tourism and hospitality sector.
The delegation was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, together with members of the University’s Management at the Council Chamber.
While extending sympathy to Sharon’s family, both the Ministry and the University reflected on the strong relationship that continues to grow between them. Discussions highlighted the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ongoing collaborative projects and ATU’s specialised training programmes in tourism and hospitality.
Prof. Acakpovi thanked the Minister and her team for taking time to visit the University and support the bereaved family. He described Sharon as a talented and dedicated young professional whose passion and commitment left a lasting impression on the tourism and hospitality industry.
Hon. Gomashie also expressed the Ministry’s condolences to Sharon’s family and the entire ATU community. She described the late Sharon as a hardworking professional who served Ghana’s tourism, culture and creative arts sector with dedication. She assured the family that the Ministry would continue to stand with them and join the tourism fraternity in giving her a befitting farewell.
The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Joseph K. Amoah; the Executive Director of the National Theatre of Ghana, Mr. Henry Herbert Malm; Directors and staff of the Ministry; and representatives of the National Commission on Culture.
