Accra Technical University (ATU) has benefited from the renovation of its basketball court by the Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings Foundation (ZARF), providing students with an improved facility for sports, recreation and extracurricular activities.
The renovated court was officially handed over to the University on October 2, 2026, at the ATU Basketball Courtside.
The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology and Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, said the project forms part of a broader effort to support the well-being of students and contribute to the development of the University.

She noted that ATU is an important institution within the Klottey Korle Constituency. Supporting the University, she said, also means creating an environment where students can grow both academically and personally.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings said education should go beyond the classroom. She stressed that the well-being of young people is just as important as their academic development.
She said students need spaces where they can exercise, compete and build relationships. Such spaces also give them the opportunity to relax and release the stress that comes with academic work.
As someone who values team sports, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings said she understands the important role sports can play in the lives of young people. She highlighted discipline, teamwork, confidence and resilience as some of the qualities students can develop through sports.

She thanked the Vice-Chancellor and Management of ATU for their cooperation throughout the implementation of the project.
She also encouraged students to make good use of the facility, take care of it and, enjoy playing on the court.
The Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, thanked Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings and the ZARF team for the thoughtful intervention.

He said the University remains committed to the development of students beyond the classroom. This includes creating opportunities for them to take part in extracurricular activities and develop their talents.
Prof. Acakpovi said such activities also provide students with opportunities to learn teamwork and leadership.
He added that Management would continue to support young people to discover and develop their talents while pursuing their education at ATU.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed the hope that the renovated court would soon come alive with sporting activities. He also looked forward to seeing greater teamwork and success from the ATU basketball team.
