Professor Frank Frimpong Opuni is an Associate Professor of Marketing and the Founding Dean of the Graduate School at Accra Technical University (ATU), Ghana. With over 15 years of experience in academia, he has made significant contributions to social marketing, sustainability, digital governance, and graduate education. Under his leadership, the Graduate School has successfully accredited and launched 12 master’s programmes, enhancing postgraduate training and research innovation at ATU.
Professor Opuni holds a PhD in Business and Management (Marketing Specialisation) from the Greater Manchester University, UK, an MBA in Marketing from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and a B.Ed. in Psychology from the University of Cape Coast. His interdisciplinary research has led to over 40 peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals such as Elsevier, Springer, and Taylor & Francis, with 17 indexed in the Scopus database, where he has a Scopus h-index of 6 and 103 citations (excluding self-citations). Per Google Scholar records, he has an h-index of 12, an i10-index of 12, and has garnered 342 citations. His ResearchGate profile reflects 41 publications, 238 citations, and a research interest score of 355.2 with over 18,000 reads. Additionally, the AD Scientific Index reports an h-index of 9 and 261 citations, highlighting his research impact. In his administrative roles at ATU, Professor Opuni has previously served as Coordinator of the Graduate School, Head of the Teaching and Learning Centre, Head of the Quality Assurance Department and Head of the Marketing Department. He has supervised several postgraduate theses for institutions like KNUST and taught undergraduate students from the Hague University of Applied Sciences.
His commitment to academic leadership is further demonstrated through his co-facilitation of international research bootcamps aimed at nurturing early-career researchers. Based on his expertise in advanced quantitative modelling, Professor Opuni has applied cutting-edge tools such as Structural Equation Modelling (SEM-PLS and AMOS), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA), and Necessary Condition Analysis to produce internationally recognised research outputs. Through Nexus Global Research Consult and the ACE research network, he has trained dozens of African faculty members in advanced research design, analytics, and publication strategies—improving the quality and impact of research across the continent. By providing mentorship, coaching, and training for several African faculty under the ACE research network, a good number of these have completed their PhDs and substantially increased their research impact.
Professor Opuni’s research excellence has been recognised through prestigious grants, including a £120,000 British Council Innovation for African Universities grant and the Erasmus Mundus grants for academic exchange with The Hague University of Applied Sciences. He has presented his work at international conferences such as the California Entrepreneurship Educators Conference and the British Council-sponsored IAU Conference at Huddersfield University, UK. His professional affiliations include Fellowship with the Global Strategic Management Institute (USA) and the Institute of Certified Economists, Ghana, as well as Associate Membership with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana.
