In a bid to strengthen relationships and enhance collaboration, the Management of Accra Technical University (ATU) paid a courtesy visit to the Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), marking a significant step forward since the assumption of office by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi.

The visit, which took place on Monday, August 7, 2023, saw the ATU delegation, led by Prof. Acakpovi, being warmly received by the GETFund Administrator, Dr. Richard Ampofo Boadu. The meeting took place at the GETFund office premises and was characterized by an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared commitment to advancing the higher education landscape in Ghana.

During the discussions, both parties expressed their keen interest in fostering a stronger partnership to address the evolving challenges and opportunities facing technical and vocational education in the country. Prof. Acakpovi highlighted ATU’s dedication to producing highly skilled graduates who can contribute effectively to the industrial growth and technological advancement of Ghana. Specifically, Prof. Acakpovi emphasised the challenge of slow pace of GetFund-sponsored infrastructure on the ATU campus. He appealed to the funding agency to prioritise such projects to assuage the deepening infrastructure deficit caused by the growing student numbers.

“While we are grateful for your outfits support to ATU over the years, let me take this opportunity to appeal to you, to use your good offices to see to the completion of GetFund-sponsored projects which have stalled on our campus. We would so much appreciate it if they are completed, as they will help bridge the infrastructure gap we currently face”, he stressed.

On his part, Dr. Boadu praised ATU’s commitment to excellence and acknowledged the university’s pivotal role in producing graduates with practical skills that are crucial to the nation’s development. He assured the ATU management team of GETFund’s continuous support to resolve their infrastructure challenges.
