Dr. Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Oppong-Mensah

Having served as the Registrar of Takoradi Technical University (TTU) from 2012 to 2019, Dr. Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Oppong-Mensah is a seasoned professional with over fifteen (15) years of vast experience in higher education administration.

She holds a Master in Public Administration which she obtained from the University of Ghana, Legon. Before her MPA programme, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree programme in Religious Studies and Classics, which she concurrently did with a Diploma in Education from the University Of Cape Coast. She obtained her Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates at Holy Child School, Cape Coast.

She is a member of the Institute of Directors and Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants Ghana. She is an experienced external assessor for promotion to Senior Member administrative positions in tertiary institutions and an efficient facilitator and a seasoned resource person in several higher education workshops and seminars.

Dr. Mrs. Oppong-Mensah has had the opportunity to participate in various workshops and conferences, both at home and abroad, on human resource management and Higher Education Institution administrative operations and management. This has broadened her horizon and sharpened her managerial acumen. No wonder she became the first female Registrar of Takoradi Technical University and succeeded in lifting it to an enviable pedestal.

She is a team player and very proficient in supervising the planning and implementation of human resources and administrative policies, programmes, and projects aimed at achieving institutional goals. Above all, she is a results-driven individual with a knack for success.  

Her passion for women’s rights advocacy has seen her spearhead several influential women-interest programmes that have yielded positive outcomes. She is married, a Christian (Presbyterian), who holds positions of service in the church, a local preacher, a Marriage and Youth Counselor, and a member of The Bible Society of Ghana (Western Region).Â
