Ing. David Dzitse-Awuku has over twenty (20) years of work experience, blending academics, construction, and geotechnical engineering practice in mining and civil engineering environments. The academics involve lecturing various courses relating to soil and rock engineering and researching cost-effective site investigation methods for the design and construction of roads, buildings, and other structures. He has research interest in pavement material engineering for road works.
He has served as Engineering Consultant, Resident Engineer, Construction Supervisor, and Geotechnical and Materials Engineer on several infrastructure projects such as bridges, roads, power plants, levees, buildings, drainage, and environmental engineering projects funded by the Ghana Government, multinational companies, international development partners, local organizations, and individuals. Some of the organizations he worked with as an Engineer include; Adamus Resources Ltd (Mining), Rio Tinto International-Simandou Iron Ore Project, Guinea-Conakry, Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd, Geotechnical Department of Architectural and Engineering Ltd. Dad Engineering and Construction Ltd. He is a qualified professional engineer with the Ghana Institution of Engineering.
As an academic, David taught various courses as an adjunct lecturer at the Institute of Technical Supervision (I.T.S.) – Office of Head of Civil Service, Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), and Accra Institute of Technology (AIT).
He joined Accra Technical University (ATU) as a part-time lecturer in 2017 and full-time in August 2021. Currently, he teaches courses such as foundation engineering, engineering geology, civil engineering materials, soil engineering at both HND and BTech levels.
He also serves as the Laboratory and Workshop Coordinator of the Civil Engineering Department.
