Ing Dr Prodeo Yao Agbotui (PE, MGhIE, MGhIG, MIAH, MLPS) had his BSc Civil Engineering degree (2006) from the KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana, and his MSc Hydrogeology (2010) & PhD Earth Science with specialty in Hydrogeology (2020) from the School of Earth and Environment, University
of Leeds, Leeds UK, both under the Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme.
Prodeo is a professional civil engineer/ hydrogeologist academic and practitioner with extensive experience in: the design and implementation of fuel retail outlets, the design and evaluation of water supply projects and general civil engineering project planning, field hydrology/hydrogeological instrumentation, groundwater resource, contaminated land assessment, slope stability evaluation, geochemical characterisation of organic and inorganic contaminant plumes in groundwater.
At the Civil Engineering Department of the ATU, he leads modules such as Engineering Hydrology, Soil and Rock Mechanics, Foundation Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering. He is also the Faculty of Engineering Research Coordinator and is responsible for planning and driving the research ethos of the faculty.
Ing Dr Prodeo Yao Agbotui is a Professional Engineer licensed by the Engineering Council of Ghana. Professionally, He is a member of: the Ghana Institution of Engineering; Ghana Institution of Geoscientists; International Association of Hydrogeologists; and the London Petrophysical Society.
He is also into private consulting and has worked with the Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) and the GreenAd, which are both Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). At the GreenAd, an environmental advocacy institution, he leads Groundwater Research and Contaminated Land projects
for poverty alleviation.
Currently, his research interests focus on the: characterising catchment scale groundwater flow dynamics, use of open-well dilution testing to constrain flow horizons in tropical hard rock aquifers, the use of pharmaceutics and emerging contaminants to assess aquifer vulnerability and the potential of artificial recharge in Ghana. He is also interested in slope stability of slopes in Ghana and drainage capacity assessments of the urban environment.
