E. Nii Ayi Solomon is an award-winning Ghanaian Tour Guide, Creative Entrepreneur, and Tourism Consultant. As part of marketing Ghana’s tourism products, he has attended several international trade exhibitions and conferences to promote Ghana’s travel products. Nii Ayi has over a decade of experience in the tourism industry and has guided tourists from all walks. In episode 12 of the VA Tourism Podcast hosted by Kojo Bentum-Williams (UNWTO Senior Expert for Communication in Africa), Nii Ayi talked about the devasting impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the tour guiding business in Ghana and why he thinks managers of the tourism sector need to do more to make Ghana a competitive destination.
E. Nii Ayi Solomon holds an MPhil in Marketing and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Ghana Business School. He is an Assistant lecturer in the Department of Marketing. His recent focus is on how to use ethnography to examineexperiences told through blogs, photography, and social media portals by tourists by combining principles of storytelling. His area of research includes destination marketing and competitiveness, destination branding, destination storytelling, Creative Arts Marketing, and issues bordering on destination sustainability.
