Accra Technical University (ATU) has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to reaffirm their existing collaboration on Friday, 10th December 2021 at the University’s Council Chamber.
The Agreement provides a framework to ensure training, education, and research for the utmost interest of enhancing GAF’s operations and delivering competent and skilled manpower to run industries and enterprises.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Nii Odai, expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama and his entourage for availing themselves in person to sign and witness this achievement. He further showed his eagerness to further partner with GAF. Professor Odai assured the CDS that ATU would deliver on its mandate. “Today’s event comes at a crucial juncture, where we use this MoU to further our partnership and support. I would like to assure you of ATU’s commitment to continue playing its part in ensuring that our shared expectations are realised” he stated.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama said, “ This MoU is in line with my vision as the CDS to develop the capacities of officers and soldiers of the Ghana Armed Forces to make them more effective and efficient, better professionals and marketable in service and beyond to develop our motherland”.
The CDS also noted that since 9th August 2018 when the first MoU was signed, there has been a fruitful relationship leading to the renewal of the commitment between the two institutions.
Some members of the gathering who added their voices were enthusiastic about the renewal of the partnership and encouraged both institutions to harness the synergy of facilities to grow both institutions and the country at large.
Present at the signing ceremony were Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, Deans, Directors and selected HODs from ATU. Also gracing the ceremony from GAF were the Chief of Staff; Maj. Gen. P.N. Andoh, Commandant, MATS; Maj. Gen. CKAA Awity, Director General Training; Brig. Gen. Twum-Ampofo, Director of Studies; Col L Deku, MA to CDS; Capt. (GN) S Nyam, CO (Sch of Ord); Lt Col A Amoako, CO (EMETTS); Lt Col EK Nyarko, CO (ETS); Lt Col MK Appoh, OC Clerks School; Flt Lt CO Densu, OC Catering School; S/Lt MO Anakwa.
