ATU Earns High Praise as It Seals Three Strategic Industry Partnerships to Boost Student Employability

Accra Technical University (ATU) continues to cement its reputation as a leading institution in hands-on technical and professional education, following the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three industry partners Certivest Recruitment, Sidan Associates and Partners, and Empire Kitchens Limited. The signing ceremony, held on October 16, 2025, at the University Council Chamber, marked another milestone in ATU’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry.
The new partnerships are designed to expand internship opportunities and foster practical learning experiences for students, ensuring they graduate with not only academic knowledge but also the professional skills and work ethics needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, expressed excitement about the collaborations, describing them as a reflection of ATU’s forward-looking vision. He noted that universities can no longer be content with merely producing graduates but must now produce graduates who are employable, innovative, and capable of creating jobs. He commended the University’s Liaison , Public Affairs , and Career Centre for their tireless efforts in securing meaningful partnerships that open doors for students to gain real-world exposure and career guidance.

Industry partners in attendance showered ATU with glowing praise for its proactive approach to student development and the remarkable performance of its graduates in the workplace.
The Chief Executive Officer of Certivest Recruitment, Mr. Andrew Amo, lauded ATU for consistently producing disciplined, skilled, and adaptable students who stand out in the job market. He revealed that his company’s decision to partner with the University was influenced by the impressive quality of ATU interns and graduates they have worked with over the years.

Similarly, the Chief Operating Officer of Sidan-AP City Ltd, Mr. Stanley Ihejirika, applauded ATU’s commitment to excellence and innovation, describing the University as a key player in shaping the next generation of construction professionals. He noted that the partnership will allow students to merge theoretical knowledge with practical industry experience, preparing them to take leadership roles in the fast-changing building and construction sector.

Madam Bernice Amerley Mensah, Accounts Officer at Empire Kitchens Limited, also commended ATU for producing hardworking and professional graduates who make a positive impact in their workplaces. She said such partnerships help refine the skills of students before they enter the job market, reducing the need for extensive retraining and boosting productivity across industries.

In the coming months, the partnership will see ATU students begin internship placements across the three companies, giving them hands-on exposure to modern workplace practices. The Liaison and Career Centre will coordinate the rollout of the first batch of interns, ensuring students are matched with roles that align with their programmes of study. The initiative is expected to enhance career readiness, strengthen industry relationships, and further position ATU as a leading hub for practical, employable, and industry-driven education in Ghana.
