
The Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University (ATU), Professor Amevi Acakpovi, has met with Ms. Christine Gaulis from the Board of Higher Education, State of Vaud in Switzerland, to explore possible collaboration between ATU and universities in Switzerland.
The meeting, held on November 5, 2025, at the University’s Council Chamber in Accra, focused on building academic and research partnerships that will benefit both institutions. Professor Acakpovi expressed his excitement about the discussion, noting that the University is committed to expanding its global reach, especially in areas that promote innovation and research.
During the interaction, both parties identified artificial intelligence as a major area of mutual interest. Professor Acakpovi emphasised the importance of developing strategic partnerships that would allow students and staff of ATU to gain exposure to new technologies and learning opportunities.
On her part, Ms. Gaulis highlighted Africa’s great potential due to its youthful population, adding that investing in education on the continent is key to driving global development. She also mentioned Switzerland’s readiness to collaborate with institutions like ATU to promote academic excellence and groundbreaking research. Additionally, she drew attention to several scholarship opportunities available to African students who wish to study in Switzerland.

The Vice Chancellor further suggested a possible collaboration in distance learning, proposing that students of ATU could take online courses from Swiss universities while continuing their studies in Ghana.
