Accra Technical University (ATU) has officially launched its 2025 Virtual Internship Programme with an opening ceremony held on October 13, 2025, at the University Auditorium. The initiative is designed to connect students with industry partners and provide them with practical experience to enhance their employability.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, reminded students that the world of work is increasingly competitive and that possessing strong, relevant skills is what sets individuals apart. He urged students to take the internship seriously, maintain discipline, dress appropriately, and make the most of the learning opportunities the programme provides.

The chairman of the event and Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Felix Kutsanedzie, encouraged participants to embody the University’s core values of integrity, creativity, and excellence as they engage with professionals and organisations. He advised students to use the experience to explore their career interests and align their academic pursuits with their future aspirations.

The Director of the Directorate of Industrial Liaison Mr. Prosper Agumey, also addressed the gathering, urging students to treat the internship with utmost seriousness and professionalism. He advised them to approach the exercise as if they were in a real workplace by showing respect, comportment, and good work ethics toward the industry partners who will guide them through the sessions in the coming months.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. Richard Anane, Service Manager at Toyota Ghana, emphasised the importance of skills development in today’s job market. He encouraged students to focus on building competence rather than chasing immediate financial rewards, noting that skills ultimately lead to long-term success.
The event brought together faculty members, industry partners, and students, setting the tone for what is expected to be an engaging and impactful internship experience for participants.
