ATU Partners with UGBS, AfriVenture Lab and British Council to Train Students in Entrepreneurship and Career Development

Accra Technical University (ATU), through its Incubation Hub, has successfully organised a transformative training session for selected students under the Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship Support (THINKGEES) project. Held on October 14, 2025, at the University Career Centre, the initiative was implemented in collaboration with the University of Ghana Business School Innovation and Incubation Hub (UGBS-IIH), AfriVenture Lab, and the British Council.

The training formed part of efforts to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial capacity of students and recent graduates from THINK Network member institutions. It provided participants with practical tools, mentorship, and knowledge to help them transition from academic life into the world of work or entrepreneurship.

In her opening remarks, Professor Alice Mensah, Project Coordinator for ATU, described the bootcamp as an opportunity for students to develop the right skills for today’s competitive job market. She explained that the bootcamp was designed to spark creativity, nurture entrepreneurial thinking, and help participants turn innovative ideas into real opportunities.

The training covered a range of topics, including design thinking, CV writing, and cover letter preparation. Participants were also guided through the process of building entrepreneurial mindsets and were encouraged to network and collaborate with mentors and facilitators who could support their professional journeys.

Facilitating the sessions were distinguished professionals including Professor Emelia Ohene-Afriyie, Dr. Archibald Dankwah-Amoah, Mrs. Christine Ampofo Ansah, and Mrs. Regina Bentil. Their engaging presentations and practical exercises inspired participants to think critically, refine their business ideas, and align their skills with emerging opportunities in the job market. Each facilitator brought unique perspectives and experiences that enriched the learning process, helping students connect theory with real-world application.

Professor Mensah encouraged the students to be active participants, ask questions, and think creatively, noting that the knowledge gained would go a long way in shaping their careers and future ventures. She emphasized that the bootcamp was not only about learning but also about discovery and empowerment, equipping young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the nation.
The THINKGEES project continues to provide a valuable platform for students to bridge the gap between education and employability, a vision shared by Accra Technical University as the pioneering Technical University of Ghana.
