ATU partners mcast, postgraduate programmes to run soon

The Management of Accra Technical University (ATU), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Nii Odai, has hosted a three-man delegation from the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) on Friday November 25, 2022.

MCAST is an international centre of excellence in the training and education

The meeting which was held in the University’s Council Chamber was a step in the materialisation of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between both entities in 2020 under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The meeting which lasted a little over an hour was pitched towards building a collaborative relationship between the two tertiary institutions, and to firm up aspects of their 2020 agreement. Members of each party evinced a great deal of mutual interest and admiration for the other’s curricular structure.

In his submission, Professor Odai expressed delight in the team’s visit while assuring it of ATU’s readiness for the collaboration. He indicated that ATU was particularly interested in having an MCAST satellite campus to run accredited postgraduate programmes.

In furtherance of the Vice-Chancellor’s submission, the Registrar of ATU, Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Oppong-Mensah, who was also present, pointed out the abundance of common grounds on which the partnership between the two institutions could be built.

On his part, the Deputy Principal, Quality Assurance and Student Academic Management, Mr. Pierre Dalmos, announced that the readiness   his team’s preparedness to sign another agreement in the coming year to further concretise the discussions had. He added that despite the self-accreditation mechanism used in the Maltese institution, ATU had no worries in running its programmes as they are EU-certified.

The meeting was graced by  deans of the various faculties and some directors.

Talks on the ATU-MCAST partnership are set to continue in January 2023.
