The Faculty of Business at Accra Technical University is undergoing exciting developments in its bid to train the next generation of seasoned business professionals. At its faculty meeting on July 10, 2025, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Elikem Ocloo, announced bold plans to transform the faculty into a fully fledged business school.
Currently, the faculty runs 25 active academic programmes, covering various fields of study. These programmes are supported by a dedicated team of staff and a vibrant student body who continue to work together to improve academic standards and build a strong community within the faculty.
Professor Ocloo also highlighted efforts in community engagement and student affairs, showing the faculty’s commitment not just to academic work but also to social impact and student development. One of the remarkable ideas he shared was the creation of a Faculty Development Fund. This fund would support faculty growth, research, and student-related activities.
Additionally, he discussed the possible establishment of new departments to strengthen the faculty’s academic offerings. Among the proposed additions is the Department of Economics, which is expected to provide students with more options and equip them for today’s competitive business world.
Adding to the excitement, Dr. Nti Amoah talked about a rebranding initiative for the faculty. Under the proposed changes, the Faculty of Business will soon be known as the Accra Technical University Business School (ATUBUS). He shared the new mission and vision for ATUBUS, which focuses on producing well-rounded business professionals who are innovative, ethical, and globally minded.
To give the rebranded school a unique identity, Dr. Amoah also proposed an official anthem and a uniform for ATUBUS. These, he believes, will instil pride and a sense of belonging among students and staff, as well as distinguish the business school from other faculties.
The meeting marked a fresh chapter for the Faculty of Business, with staff and students looking forward to a more focused and professional identity as a business school.
