national executives of atuaa sworn in; set up scholarship scheme

Newly elected national executives of the Accra Technical University Alumni Association (ATUAA) have been inducted into office in a brief ceremony at the ATU Lodge on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

In a speech by the outgoing President of the association, Mr. Ayisala,  was full of praise for his executives for a great tenure while paying homage to his predecessors for effectively playing their part in the development of the association.

Mr. Ayisala also took the opportunity to outline some of the milestones his administration had marked during their term of office. ‘‘Mr. Chairman, without being overly boastful and in all humility. . . We registered the Association with the Registrar General’s Department, we organised Alumni lectures, we supported students both in cash and kind during preparation towards international competitions, donated
ten projectors to the University etc.”

Following the swearing in of the new executives by Lawyer Pwavra Teriwajah, Mr. Ayisala, who retained his position like the other executives, thanked the alumni body for reposing confidence in them. He assured the gathering that the association would continue to collaborate and assist the Management in ensuring that the University fulfils its mandates. He added that ATUAA has a lot of plans in the pipeline that would soon see implementation.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour in the stead of the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University, Professor Amevi Acakpovi was grateful for the kind gestures the association continue to extend to the University while praising them for the continuous support. He highlighted the essence of university alumni and urged ATUAA to keep the good work up and adopt the latest technologies that would make the association.

The association, through the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Samuel Quansah, an alumnus, donated GHc20,000 as seed money for the institution of a scholarship scheme. The association also donated 10 of 16 laptops to be distributed among the University’s academic departments to facilitate teaching and learning activities.

The ceremony was graced by Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and other alumni.
