ATU Honours Outstanding Students on Eve of 25th Congregation

Accra Technical University has honoured students who have distinguished themselves in both academic work and character at its annual awards ceremony held ahead of the University’s 25th Congregation.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, March 26, at the University Auditorium.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amevi Acakpovi, said the awards reflect the hard work, discipline, and commitment demonstrated by the students throughout their academic journey. He urged the awardees to take pride in their achievement and use it as motivation to strive for greater success.

He noted that excelling in today’s world of work goes beyond academic knowledge, stressing the need for the right attitude, practical competence, and productivity.

Professor Acakpovi further shared the story of Kwame, an Electrical Engineering student, whose dedication to learning and strong work ethic stood out during his time on campus. He encouraged the awardees to draw lessons from such examples as they prepare to transition into the world of work.
The Vice-Chancellor also commended lecturers and faculty members for their role in shaping the students. It acknowledged the support of parents, whose sacrifices, he said, have contributed to the awardees’ success.

A total of 59 awards were presented across 11 categories. Kingsley Dadzie of the Mechanical Engineering Department was named Overall Best Graduating HND Student with a CGPA of 4.752, while Sekyi Elizabeth Mary emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Female Student with a CGPA of 4.748.
