Mr. Gladstone Sena Kportufe is the Head of the Department of Building Technology at Accra Technical University. He has been at the helm of affairs in the Department since July 2022 following a short spell as the acting Head of the Department within the same period of time.

As a proud alumnus of the University, Mr. Kportufe has been wreathed in the philosophy and the founding principles of the premier technical University when he enrolled in the Construction Technician Part 1&2 in 1993 and 1994 respectively.

In 1996, he took his studies further at Ho Polytechnic by pursuing an HND in Building Technology. After successfully completing the programme, he traveled to Scotland to pursue BSc. Construction Management at the Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001. Following his undergraduate programme, he was offered admission at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow UK, pursuing an MSc. Construction Management.

He is a highly experienced construction professional who has garnered a wealth of experience in the industry having worked with top construction companies both in the UK and in Ghana. Among the many leadership roles he has assumed include HOD in the Department of Environment and Sanitation, HOD Estate Department, and  a Senior Hall Tutor at the University Hostel.

Mr. Kportfue’s academic interest spans Contract administration, Construction Technology, and Building Maintenance.  He has academic publications in the field of construction and his areas of interest include Health and Safety in Construction, Rising Damp in the Construction Industry, and Maintenance culture in Buildings. Under his administration, the Department currently offers a 4-year Bachelor in Construction Engineering Management.

He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Building Technology where he shares insight into global trends in the industry in shaping the next generation of Engineers. He is married and blessed with four (4) children.
