Mrs. Catherine Adu
Head of Department, Fashion Design and Textiles
Mrs. Catherine Adu is well refined in areas such as Industrial Art and Art Education, with profound expertise in the field of Fashion and Textiles Management, Production Management, Business Affairs and Fashion Textile History. Her commitment and dedication to the training and modelling of students to become heirs of the next generational fashion entrepreneurs remain a valuable asset to the University. Not only is she instrumental in students’ academics in her Department but has also served diligently at top management level.
She has served as a member of Faculty Board of Business since 2014 and Departmental Academic Counsellor for HND students. Owing to her motivation to students’ academic progress, she served on the Industrial Liaison Committee and the Education Committee of the University. Her immense contribution to the University has been through projects, seminars and proposals. Her proposal to the University for the introduction HND programmes in Metal Product Design (Jewellery and Metalsmithing) in November 2014 and a proposal for the introduction of short courses in Fashion Accessory Making set the tone for the academic orientation of some academic courses.
Mrs. Adu holds a BA in Industrial Art from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an M.A in Education from the same University. She is currently the head of the Department of Fashion Design and Textile; a position she has steered creditably since 2019.
