Dr J. Sika Akoto is the Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer at Accra Technical University (ATU). She brings extensive experience in higher education administration, with a career spanning university governance, human resource development, and institutional operations.

Before joining ATU, Dr Akoto served as Registrar of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), having previously been Deputy Registrar responsible for Academic Affairs. Following the establishment of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) through the merger of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, the National Film and Television Institute, and the Ghana Institute of Languages, she joined the University’s management team as Acting Registrar and was subsequently appointed UniMAC’s Foundation Registrar.

She has also held senior administrative roles at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and Ho Technical University.

Dr Akoto holds a PhD in Education from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from the University of Cape Coast, a Master of Arts in International Affairs, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts with English from the University of Ghana. Her academic interests include education administration, narrative inquiry, and management. She has contributed to scholarly work on student experiences and higher education management and has authored a work of fiction titled Cacti and other Stories.

As Registrar of Accra Technical University, Dr Akoto provides leadership for the University’s administrative functions and works closely with the Vice-Chancellor, University Management, academic units, and administrative directorates to ensure the University operates effectively. Her role also places her at the centre of the University’s governance and administrative processes as ATU continues to strengthen its systems and pursue its mandate as a technical university.
